🎯 The Goal
Fill the grid with digits so that every row and every column contains exactly one of each digit. If you are playing a 4x4 grid, you will use the numbers 1 through 4. For a 6x6 grid, you will use 1 through 6, and so on. Calcudoku, often known as Mathdoku or KenKen®, is a logic-based math puzzle that combines the core "no-repeat" row and column mechanics of classic Sudoku with challenging arithmetic. Your ultimate objective is to use basic math skills to deduce the correct placement of every number without guessing.
📜 The Rules
- Cages & Targets: The grid is divided into distinct, bold-outlined blocks called "cages". In the top corner of each cage, you will see a target number paired with a specific mathematical operation (+, -, ×, ÷).
- Do the Math: The digits you place inside a cage must combine using that specific mathematical operation to equal the target result. You must apply the operator to all the cells within the cage to reach the target number.
- Operator Application: For subtraction (-) and division (÷) cages, the order in which you place the numbers does not matter. For example, if a 2-cell cage has a target of "3-", the numbers could be 5 and 2, or 2 and 5, because the difference between them is 3. Similarly, for a "2÷" cage, the numbers could be 4 and 2.
- Repeats Allowed (Crucial Rule): A number can repeat within a single cage, but it can never repeat in the same row or column. This interplay between cage math and Sudoku rules is the primary strategy used to solve complex puzzles.

Additionally, look for "freebies"—single-cell cages with just a number and no operator. You can fill those in immediately. Finally, use the no-repeat rule to your advantage. If a cage requires a 4, but there is already a 4 in that column, you immediately know where the 4 must go inside the cage.
